Microsoft Business Intelligence
With the exponential growth in data
volumes currently being experienced by many
organisations, finding your way to the correct
information can be a real challenge. Executives and
senior management consistently question how they can
have invested so much in large scale deployments of
enterprise wide solutions like ERP and CRM and yet often
find themselves not being able to get accurate answers
to the most basic of questions.
Business Intelligence (BI) bridges this gap – i.e.
converting volumes of data into intelligent information.
The goal of a BI solution is to turn corporate data into
a valuable asset. Revealing the true patterns, trends,
margins, KPI’s etc in your data should better align your
current performance with your intended strategic goals
and objectives. Ciall has extensive experience working
with the Microsoft BI platform to address these
challenges for our clients.
Firmly established as the world’s fastest growing
enterprise database, Microsoft SQL Server contains a
wide range of Business Intelligence tools ‘out of the
box’. In a typical BI implementation, large volumes of
data are sourced from one or many disparate systems and
brought together - usually in a non-production
environment, called a data warehouse. Population of the
data warehouse will often require extensive cleansing
and mapping of the separate data sources to create a
more uniform data structure. This data will then be
aggregated into OLAP (On Line Analytical Processing)
cubes to facilitate fast streamlined analysis. Finally a
presentation layer is built on top, allowing end users
appropriate access to reports, queries, dashboards etc.
Each of the key steps described above is supported using
core elements of Microsoft SQL Server. Ciall’s BI
implementation methodology coupled with our extensive
experience of Microsoft technology makes us the ideal
partner to work with in designing and deploying BI
solutions.
