Mercury
Engineering
Mercury Engineering is the leading
provider of mechanical, electrical engineering and fire
protection services in the Irish market place. The group
also operates through its international division, in
Europe, Middle East and North Africa. Mercury has an
established track record of successful completion of
construction projects across a wide range of industry
sectors – projects ranging in size from a few hundred
thousand Euro through to tens of millions of Euro.
Within its construction processes Mercury constantly
seeks to identify and deploy new techniques to enhance
the quality and efficiency of its work.
Mercury initially engaged Ciall to examine the group’s
use of information technology – in supporting both
site-based and back-office operations. Subsequently
Ciall were engaged to lead a major, enterprise-wide,
business process analysis and redesign project. The
Board saw this as a key business initiative, in order to
support further growth of the company, while continuing
to operate in a very competitive environment. This
project involved participation by people from all
divisions, support functions and levels of the company.
Ciall’s role was to act as programme manager, providing
the framework for the project, supporting the Mercury
teams throughout the project and assisting in completion
of the ‘AS-IS’ analysis and the design for the proposed
‘TO-BE’ business processes.
In follow on phases to the project Ciall worked with
Mercury teams to define information systems
requirements, develop RFP documents, select solutions
providers and develop supporting business cases for
Board approval. Following appointment of the ERP vendor
Ciall provided project and programme management
resources through the implementation phase. ‘The last
three years have not been without their challenges –
while growing the business nationally and
internationally we have also dived deep into our
processes, reengineered many of them and successfully
implemented a tier one ERP solution.
Throughout this time Ciall consultants have supported,
cajoled, questioned and, most importantly, shown a real
commitment to each of the projects. They have worked
closely with our people and shown themselves willing and
able to transfer skills to our team members.’ (Gerry
Morrissey, Finance Director, Mercury Engineering)
Mercury continues to develop its business and business
model. The group continues to use Ciall to provide
strategic and operational advice – working closely with
our executive management team.
