Jurys Doyle
Hotel Group
JurysDoyle is Ireland’s leading hotel
group. Headquartered in Dublin, we have a portfolio of
5, 4 and 3 star Hotels and a number of Inns across the
country. JurysDoyle also owns a number of properties in
the UK and the US. In recent years the group has been
expanding rapidly both by acquisition and organic
growth. The hotel industry is notoriously competitive –
and Ireland is no exception to the rule. In order to
stay on top of our game, it is imperative that we have
reliable, accurate and up to date information available
to all key decision makers within the group.
We started working with Ciall in 2002. At that time, the
challenge facing us was to streamline financial and
management reporting across the group. In particular,
our focus was on speed, reliability and elimination of
the myriad of spreadsheets that were in use for
reporting purposes. Working closely with Ciall, we
decided to implement the Enterprise Reporting (ER)
product from Microsoft. Using data captured from our ERP
and Reservations systems, ER allows us to analyse the
performance of each property within the group and to
prepare our group consolidated financials. We have
developed suites of reports that provide the financial
management team with fast and reliable information,
including Actual/Budget/Prior year comparisons,
profitability, benchmarking and trend analysis. More
recently we have expanded the use of ER to include our
Sales and Marketing departments.
Managers in this part of the business are using ER to
analyse sales performance, effectiveness of
marketing/promotional campaigns and review the business
mix (Rooms, Bars, Restaurants, Conferences, Events etc)
by property and segment (5 star, 4 star etc).
Implementation of ER saves us time every month. We now
have an interface that transfers data from our main
transaction systems into our reporting environment in a
matter of minutes. Group consolidated reports and the
preparation of all the required supporting analysis are
then available at the touch of a button. And best of
all, there is now one definitive version of the group
numbers – no debate over which spreadsheet to use! Neal
